 China’s recent economic boom has seen the birth of new middle income and upper classes. About 210,000 of the country’s 1.3 billion people are millionaires in US dollar terms, according to the 2003 World Wealth Report compiled by Cap Gemini Ernst Young. This burgeoning nouveau riche is a strong force particularly for luxury products.

 This year has also seen Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley and Rolls Royce opening new dealerships in China. Recognising the rollercoaster growth in this luxury market and its enormous potential, Top Marques are joining forces with a local partner, Borrison Consulting, to launch Top Marques Shanghai from 18^th to 21^st October 2005.

Borrison have recently conducted their own in depth survey into the luxury car market in China, estimating its growth at over 15% p.a., and concluding that there is a definite niche for a luxury and supercar show in Shanghai. Not only have Haistand gained the support of Shanghai TV’s Channel Young and a host of national car magazines they also have an exhibition arm within their company, whose key members were trained in Germany. Haistand acts for a number of major international corporates such as Volkswagen, General Motors, and Honda, as a strategic and PR consultant.

 The chosen venue, the Shanghai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, is the Taj Mahal of international exhibition centres. This beautiful building is located in the business area of Pudong and overlooks the Huangpu River. Facilities include a marble floored exhibition area with numerous meeting rooms, VIP lounges and a beautiful banqueting room. A 5 star hotel is situated within the complex and there are excellent onsite parking and outside areas.

 With China’s imminent entry into the World Trade Organisation and its staggering acceleration of economic growth, this must be one of the last unconquered emerging markets in the world. Surely, an opportunity no one would want to miss!!
